Mijente is a Latinx digital and grassroots hub organizing for economic, racial and gender justice. We believe in the ability for communities to develop solutions for the problems we face. Community organizing teaches us that through collective action we can transform power, upend injustice and save ourselves. Mijentech exists to facilitate those solutions by creating and scaling technology businesses in Latinx communities and in movements for social justice. We produce our own software platforms that organizations can license to save time and increase impact.
We work with organizations to design and build applications that they can launch as internal tools or as revenue generating businesses. We help social impact entrepreneurs scale their businesses through incubation and investment.
The Blueprint Collaborative is a tool for funders to give money quickly to clusters of small grassroots organizations. It allows rapid response to flashpoint issues to provide financial support when they need it the most. It allows funders to have unique access to groups who are most impacted by social justice issues and are the most qualified to organize and mobilize. It allows funders to give money to smaller organizations and allows for more collaboration between funders.
We created a tool to help fiscal sponsors manage their fiscally sponsored projects. The fiscal sponsor can see the dashboard from their desktop to see the most up to day financial snapshot of the fiscally sponsored project including projected grant income, monthly expenses, and current bank data. Fiscally sponsored projects update expenses, upload photos of receipts, and send check requests from their telephone. The tool facilitates communication between both roles and gives program officers alerts and to-do lists.
We have created back office tools for our internal operations including Team Aid a tool to manage the progress of startup companies. Actors helps us to map organizations, businesses, and programs that can support startup companies in the tech entrepreneurship ecosystem. Trainers is a database to help us keep track of the individuals and teams that we have provided trainings and mentorship to.
We partner with teams who have expertise in their field and are working to create solutions that impact them directly. We apply the lean startup methodology and identify a product/ market fit before building anything. We believe in testing solutions that center the person experiencing the problem over the proposed tech solution. We use agile development process and build a minimal viable product (MVP) and add features incrementally.
